Pleasant Surprise from Krieger Barrels

michaelnel

Old and In The Way
On January 6th I ordered a 6mm HV blank from Krieger. At the time, I was told it would ship May 4th. I mentioned that to some folks who said "Hah... with Krieger, you'll be lucky to get it in a year".

Well I was OK with the May 4th date, since I don't have an urgent need for the blank right now. I mostly ordered it so I would have one when I needed one.

Today I got an email from Krieger, saying the blank is ready to ship, and to please submit payment when convenient. I figured it was a mistake, it's only been about 3 weeks. I called them, and yep, it's shipping out tomorrow.

What a nice surprise and great folks to deal with!

Irony at it's best. If you needed it ASAP it wouldn't have shipped 'til next Christmas. That's how it works for me. ::)

That is very cool. The long hold time is why I always have a few on hand. My policy is when my tube is going I order a replacement for the tube in the safe that will be going on my rifle.

I was shooting with some of the Kreiger employees a week ago. I was told things are slowing down. As in they're catching up on orders. Not as long of lead times right now. I'll have to go tease the guys at Brux, that they need to pick up the pace!

Sounds like the right order at the right time. I've gotten lucky like that once before. Only once. Happened to order a barrel the same week they were set up to run that exact barrel. It was a nice short wait :)

That's me as well and the story of the last time I ordered from Kreiger. Bought my last Kreiger from Bruno's and had it within a week.

I reside in WI. and have been to both places. Both make great barrels, but are different in makeup. Brux looks to be a more old school working environment and has far fewer employees. Krieger has several office people and more shop employees. I get the sense that both know the backload of orders will subside in the near future. I say this because Brux has room to expand their day shift and it would appear that Krieger could easily add a second shift. Perhaps my observations are off base?

I ordered a bbl from krieger back in October. The guy said 4 months, but maybe earlier. He mentioned that they had added extra capacity recently, and were making progress on shortening their backlog. Still waiting, but I am hopeful.
