Plastic Cartridge Case Hold Open Clips

Everybody probably uses the cheap plastic cartridge cases. The only problem I have with them is the lid is always in the way and sometimes when trying to open the lid farther you can dump out the cases. I did some cogitating and came up with these .061 music wire clips. They work great and the unexpected benefit is that the cases are more stable while sitting at the bench.

The round wire is ideal because it still allows a cartridge to fit in the hole where the clip is placed.

Now all I need to do is make another 15 or 20 so I can have one in every case I own.

Great idea! Now, why didn't I think of that? I also have always had the problem of the lid preventing easy, one-handed access to the ammo. Frequently use the slip-top boxes, but must wrap a rubber band around them when not wanting them to come open & dump the rounds on the ground. Will p.u. the wire at the local hdw. store & make the clips. A big THANK YOU.

I just resized all my 30BR brass and I tell you these little clips are awesome ! The cartridge box sits there totally stable and there is no pita getting to the cases on the back row.

I forwarded this thread to Midway so maybe they will make them available commercially OR maybe include one free in each case !!

Great idea and thanks for posting. I made some clips for R-50 Series box for 6mmBR. While making the clips all I could think about was am I making Romax Wire Fasteners. I checked and the Romax Fasteners I have fit the R-50 Series box. The normal Case-Gard 50 case the gap is about 100 thousandths wider and the clips I made and the Romax fasteners are not wide enough. So Lynn if you want a bunch of clips for R-50 Series boxes, go to Home Depot.

Making little things like these clips is how you expand your capabilities, self confidence, self sufficiency and self satisfaction. All you need is the music wire and some pliers.

While tearing the house apart today looking for a GPS Cable, I found a box of 9/16 x 1-1/4 inch metal staples, wire fastners, and they fit all my MTD 50 round boxes. I am still looking for the cable and have clips in all my boxes now. the second batch was easy to make, just unsharppened the staples.
