plano air glide cases

I HAVE ALWAYS FOUND VERY GOOD ADVICE ON THIS WEB SITE SO HERE IS THE QUESTION ON AIR GLIDES. WILL A SHORT RANGE BR RIFLE WITH A 3 INCH FOREARM FIT IN THESE CASES . IF NOT CAN THEY EASILY BE MODIFIED TO ACCEPT THIS WIDE A FOREARM. THANKS DAVE

Yes...if the fit is too snug, simply carve out a bit of the high density foam to fit. If mine didn't fit easily, I'd just lean on'em a bit harder!

I have always used them for my 2 F-open guns, until I rebarreled both guns and they became too long. The Airglide will only hold a gun that is no more than around 50" in length.

The center foam block will be too narrow for a 3" forearm but an electric carving knife will cut the foam like butter. I've run into a couple other fit issues also:

If you have Xtra High Sig Zee rings and a Nightforce or something similarly high it will sit too high for the case to close. Just knock a half inch or so off the bottom of the rear and center blocks with the carving knife.

That sort of hasn't been my experience.

Both my guns have 3" wide forearms, but they fit in the center foam block. Admittedly, it's a tighter press-in fit, not a drop in fit (actually sufficient to hold the gun in place without the strap if I'm lazy and don't drive like a maniac).

Also, both my guns also have 20moa bases, Burris Signature Zee extra high rings, and 12-42 Nightforce BR scopes, and the case will close if the rifle's butt is against the rear of the Airglide case. I think here it may be an issue of how far forward or back you mount your scope.

Yes a short-range BR rifle will fit unless you have a super long barrel. Max length is the main issue, which can be a problem if your barrel is more than 28" long. As noted, if you are running super-high rings, you may have to cut-down the center recess of the foam cradles, and cut a barrel notch in the front foam. That should lower the rifle enough to provide scope clearance.

+1 on previous posts.
My 30 " barreled Savage F-class will NOT fit but just about everything else is a go.

Great value, esp. at the current $34.00 with free shipping.

I may have talked myself into buying another ;D
