Pistol Scopes??

What's out there in pistol scopes? I'm just shooting from the bench and not in any kind of competition. I have a couple Burris 4-12's and I like them but I'd like more magnification. Have tried rifle scopes but just plain don't like 'em on a pistol. I've heard that there are fellows out there who can convert a rifle scope but who are they? I'd like to get into the 16x range and variable would be wonderful. Would be using on a Wichita MK40 in 7IHMSA and an MOA in 6PPC. Thanks!

I don't know of anything out there with more than 12x in a long eye relief scope. Rifle scopes with a good brake on the gun take a bit of getting used to but once you do it's the way to go. Both those cartridges should barely recoil with a brake on them

The PPC is a pussycat but the 7IHMSA a total monster off the bags. It was much easier to shoot from Creedmor with open sights 35 years ago. I have a good brake on it now, (Witt Machine), and it's pretty tame. I've tried rifle scopes, both ways, and don't care for it. If 12x is all that's out there then I'll stick with the Burris, I guess.

I have two XP-100's in 6.5x47 Lapua, trued actions, hart barrels 1-8 twist, gre'-tan firing pin/bushing mod, russo grips and harrell muzzle brakes. I started out with Leupold VX3's 2.5x8 but have gone to the Burris 3-12. I found the Leupold's had parallax problems that even Leupold could not eliminate, the Burris has a parallax adjustment and to my surprise has nice optic clarity and the reticle, to me, is much better for longer range shooting. The Burris is also the highest powered long eye relief scope I could find, went with them on a whim and am glad I did. The only down side to them is the eye box is quite small at 12 power.

Wally Siebert used to convert 24 and 36 Leupolds to LER. I actually have one of each that he did for me awhile ago. They have an extremely critical eye relief and are only good off the bench. But sadly he's no longer with us.

You can attach a Gene Davis power booster to the 3-12X and they do work for some folks.

I will be watching this thread. Have a couple XP100s and want more scope magnification.
My XP100 went to deer camp with me last weekend, but there was no joy.

Back-story, it was purchased from a Remington employee back in the 90's. He had customized it with a Redfield 2.5x scope, additional weight in the stock and a trigger job to beat the band. (Why would anyone want to beat a band? They always seemed to be nice folks.) Anyway, I've never officially clocked the trigger but it feels to be close to a pound and breaks like an icicle. The problem is that the guy was seven feet tall and arms a week long.
At the bench I can get just far enough back from the ocular to shoot it well. However, in a stand, it was useless and even worse it would have been more likely to wound an animal than harvest it cleanly. So, short story long, I need a shorter eye relief scope, I have nubby arms. I'll be watching this thread closely. Any advice or guidance would be appreciated.
The pocketbook can only handle a mid-priced glass, no Zeiss, Swarovski or the such and I'm partial to Leupold. However, I'm open minded and willing to try something different.

I see this thread was resurrected from 2017.

I use the Nightforce SHV 5-10 along with a good muzzle brake on both of mine.

Zombie thread for sure.
The Bushnell Elite pistol scopes had the longest usable eye relief , if that’s what your after.
Imho the 2 and 2.5X glass is little more than a tube with a cross hair in it, some guys like them, just not my cup of tea.

300 yards with a red dot, that’s something.

Tried to upload a video of me shooting 12" steel @ 300 but unable to for some reason.
