Pillar bedding ?

Could you guys educate me on pillar bedding a Savage MK II with a Boyds laminated stock ?

Take about 1/16th off of the wood out of the area you want bedded, open the action hold down holes to slip fit the pillars, and screw the pillars into the action and set it in the stock and get it level with blue tape on the barrel, then remove the barrel and apply the bedding stuff and secure it in place with tape on the barrel so the action floats with no pressure on it. Let it dry 24 hours, and remove it.. Don't forget to use kiwi neutral shoe polish for a good release agent, do it twice and polish it both times before using the bedding stuff on it..

If I might add measure the recoil lug. You don't want it wider at the bottom than the top. Had this happen to me on a Rem 700. Mechanical lock.
