Pillar Bedding a Savage

When you do this, do you do both pillars? The reason that I ask is the rear pillar has to be notched for the trigger to clear. If you use a rear pillar, do you just "wing it" on doing this or do you have a specific set of measurements for this?
This is for a Boyd's stock and they offer a rear only pillar option. After you notch the pillar, there is only a minimal contact with the top of the pillar.

I do both and cut the notch after it is bedded.

Having done it both ways, my preference is to use a full diameter rear pillar and notch the sear. -Al

I pillar both and notch the rear. On a Boyds stock I often have to remove a little material where the rear trigger guard screw is as well. Sometimes it sits a little proud and wont allow your sear to set when the action is torqued down in the stock.

Just remove the trigger for bedding then relieve/notch what you need to.

Yes! Then the trigger freezes.
