Piedmont 600 yd shooters got a question

Tim Singleton

Gold $$ Contributor
I'm just 20 or so miles west of Asheville. I've been shooting point blank BR for a couple years. Piedmont is justa little over an hour from me so Im interested in 600 yd matches I could make these monthly matches pretty easy. The 600 yd will be all new for me
Do you have to be a club member?
Or just IBS member to shoot the monthly matches?
Do they allow personal wind flags to be placed?
If not how many flags are used?
Where can I read the rules? I was wondering about the sighter time periods and the time for the record shots

I have an extra Bat 3 lug and a LR BR stock and a sightron 10-50 handy.
I have a 31" Krieger HV .237 barrel on order free shipping from Bruno's. I have a 6br reamer with .118 freebore plenty of 6br brass and Berger 105 from another varmint rifle project. Shouldn't take me long to get it all put together.
I would like to come and watch for a couple weekends if that is ok?

Tim

Never been to Piedmont but have seen people come watch at other ranges. I have shot at some where if you weren't an IBS member you didn't get points. Some ranges charged a little more if you weren't a club member. Our club allows 2 shoots a year without being a member. Matt

Tim,
You dont have to be a club member or IBS membership to shoot, but I would recommend at least getting an IBS membership to get IBS points and have a record recognized. Sounds like you have the equipment! You can sure watch first if you want. Be careful, someone may loan you a rifle so you can get your feet wet. The first sighter period is 6 min in each class (HG and LG). Then two min after that. You can place as many wind flags as you want. We sight in on a dirt bank just left of your target, shooting at the small clay birds. Dark Corner Benchrest will have 3 matchs at the Piedmont range before Piedmont GC starts their matchs. DC first match is Sat. Jan 7 at 09:00. We will be glad to have you come on down! The rules may be posted on the Piedmont Gun Club and/or Dark Corner BR websights. Samuel Hall

I don't have the opportunity to shoot there primarly because of scheduling but those guys will help you fit in as the old saying come on down have a great time.

Spoke with Eric Dove on the phone earlier today. I'm gonna come down and watch this Sat. Pickup a stock from him and hopefully be all ready to go before the next month match

Anyone have the dates for 2017 matches?

Thanks guys
