Picatinny Rails Origin

It's often claimed MIL-STD-1913 rail itself dates back to the A.R.M.S. company in the early 1980s standardizing the Weaver design.

Facts are, the first such rails were designed by then made a few years earlier by a San Jose, CA, riflesmith who also refereed high power nationals; Jack Davis. They were not made by Weaver but shaped to accept Weaver rings.

Jack was a friend; bless his departed soul.
