Picatinny rail on my Ruger American Ranch

Why are the slots on the Ruger’s Ranch’ picatinny rail different from other picatinny rails? I have 5 rifles including one other Ruger and all have Picatinny rails. My scopes are set up with Warne QD so I can swap scopes. All scopes QD and quick mount on all of the rails except for the Ruger Ranch.

Going to the Ruger Ranch from another rifle, or to another rifle from the Ruger Ranch requires me to loosen one set of rings and realign.

All of the other picatinny rails are compatible with each other except for the Ruger Ranch. Thanks, Bill.

Others have said the exact same thing… Although, on Ruger‘s website they claim it is standard mil-spec spacing, people disagree with that. Best option is to buy an aftermarket one put it on and then your spacing should be correct..

Sorted it out. The lugs on the Ruger American rail is to picatinny specification but the staggering of the lugs across its full length isn’t consistent because of the mounting design for the rail rail to the action and to make room for the Ruger logo. The Ruger rail requires Picatinny rings. But scopes with QD rings mounted on my Ruger American Ranch can not be swapped to another rifle. No option but to put on an aftermarket rail. I don't think you can really blame bill for this! Many other things yes, but not this. Ruger has many models that they do not support any more and I have stopped all thoughts of ever buying another. There are still 3 model 77s in my safe, at one time there were 7. i was given an early mini 14 that i could not get parts for so a got rid of it before it boke and was possibly unfixable. The American ranch is a gun that shoots way better than its price. Are you related to the east Tennessee Cooks?

The Ruger American used to come with a Weaver rail, don’t know if they still do or when it might have stopped.

This Ruger is advertised as having a Picatinny rail and if fact does have one. The Tennessee Cook’s may be shirt tail relations but not on our Christmas carl list. I bought a Mini 30 because I wanted one. I bought the Ranch because of the magazine, suppressor, hand loading equipment, hand loading component compatibility and because it was a light handy rifle. I think it’s 7 lb and a few ounces with scope. Always learning.
