Phoenix Machine Actions

Has anyone seen or used one of the new Phoenix Machie actions being produced by Glen Harrison founder of Nesika?

I also forward to seeing Glen's new line of actions. What he has done in the past have been real good. I spoke with Glen after the Shot Show. He is in the process of making a model 700 clone. I suggested he make a quality clone of a Winchester model 70, and a small "mini action" like a Sako L-461. He seemed very receptive to ideas. I hope Glen does well. As far as Glen's new actions, if they are like the work he has done in the past they will be top flight.

Here is some chat on what he is doing for the action he is building for GAP.

I attended Glen's Press conference/luncheon at the SHOT show and he has several actions that he is working on- some to compete directly with mod 700 with PTD bolts all the way up to double square bridge mausers. He is currently making me a 700 footprint action that has the side bolt stop, like Nesika) and the full round rear bridge rather than the ground off abortions that the 700s sport. He makes top-flight stuff. My bottom metal and rail will be Seekins, supplied by Phoenix. Bolt is one-piece, this is an EXPENSIVE option!

After waiting about 4 months already, I was just informed that the one-piece bolt type actions are still being prototyped and won't be available until September... Grrrr

Right now they are only shipping the 700 clones that need Dave Kiff's bolts. He is an excerpt from the email I received.

"The ship date that was quoted to you is off by quite some time. We are still in the development stages for the complete actions with one piece bolts. What we are manufacturing and shipping at this point are the Remington replacement receiver bodies. Unfortunately, we are unable to give you a weight estimation at this time. The estimated date for shipping is September. We apologize for any miscommunication. We will certainly keep you posted as we proceed."

Seems to me that September is rather optomistic if they're still in the prototyping stages. Hope he makes it though.

"Any idea to the pricing of the clone 700?
With bolt or without?"

Don't quote me, but I believe it was <$400 for the 700 clone WITHOUT bolt. I know that the one piece bolt is more expensive than the rest of the action.

OK- I just checked my emails and a receiver without a bolt was quoted to me at $350.

Did you have to pay more for the tang, target port, and round rear bridge options?

Nope the reciever is $350 for the 700 clone or the heavy tang, target tang, round bridge/target port, he diden't even charge anymore for the longer tenon !!
