Pet load for a .308 win with ar comp powder

jonbearman

I live in new york state, how unfortunate !
Can someone give me their best load with ar-comp(alliant) powder and I am using a sierra 175 grain match king in a remington .308 win rifle(bolt) 26 inch barrel with 1in12 twist I believe.

You probably have this already, but Alliant's web site lists 41.4 gr AR-Comp for the 175 Sierra.

Although I have no experience with 308, I pointed this out because the Alliant recommendations for 223 loads (69 and 77 gr bullets) were spot on - worked very well for me.

I've been shooting arcomp for the last yearand have found Alliant's data very close to what my final loads end up. 40.7gr for 178gr Amax

I have been shooting AR Comp for two seasons now, initially Service Rifles 77 SMK's, 75 AMAX's and 80 Bergers with good results. Over the past six months I've been tinkering with 308 loads for F/TR with some surprisingly good results.

I've noticed that the loads published by Alliant seem to be very close to a high node in commercial/match brass. It seems to print some very good groups .8 MOA or much better consistently with great SD/ES numbers. (meters great too). I like the next node down. For me the next node down, about .5gr seems best, at least for me.

I have had very good luck with fully prepped LC 12. I was very surprised at the velocity and accuracy with well over 2gr less powder than in commercial/match brass. I've been seeing just shy of 2700, consistently in the single digit SDs (39.5-40gr) with 168's and was very surprised. Has anyone else seen those kind of velocities. 28" Shilen 1-10 on a trued Savage action.

It works quite well with 168 SMKs, 175 SMKs, 178 Hornady's and 185 Bergers. With the heavier three shooting well and holding MOA to 1K if I'm focused. Loaded about a node down from published and tuned for jump. There have been many .5-.6 MOA 10 & 20 round strings.

It has shown the temperature stability they advertise and is as accurate for me as Varget , RL 15 and 4046.

What is anyone else seeing they would like to share.
