Pending new Hunter/Class record

Well just a week ago i was at our National Hunter/Class shoot at the Seaham Range in NSW Australia and looks like a couple of new records were shot 250+ at 100 yards And also 250+ at 200 yards agg score was 500.16 i think in all 3 people shot clear rounds one in light gun and 2 in heavy just waiting on the scores to be double checked and passed and i will have them sent to me. Paul Sullivan & Barry Edgley were two of the shooters Paul was at the 8th World Championship Bench-rest at the Kelby Range last year. Start of shooting was delayed 2 hrs as fog was too thick to see targets.

Sounds like your Hunter Class and ours here in the States have different rules and format. Can you elaborate on what it is you use for rifles and the various classes.
Thanks

Ron,

I won't steal Bob's thunder but yes, Australian HCBR has different rules to the US version. Primarily, the minimum case capacity rule does not apply,so 30BR is becoming de rigueur).

There are other differences like stock dimensions,3" forend allowed) but weight, magazine requirement and scope power limits remain the same. Course of fire is also the same. Bob will catch any I've missed.

The bottom line is that Aussie HCBR records are not directly comparable to US HCBR scores. So an Aussie "World Record" is like the US "World Series" of baseball. We/you compete against ourselves.

Yep that's about right.
We have only just introduced the varmint for score into our Hunter/Class and it can be single shot open power on scope and weigh up to 14lbs with 3inch for-end.
The light Center-Fire must have a working Magazine 6X scope 2.25 wide and not weigh more than 10lbs.This is the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia rules. http://www.ssaa.org.au/newssaa/SSAAcompetitions/benchrest.shtml
Now the scores I spoke of were only in the varmint for score or heavy rifle light rifle dropped 2 shots. Two shooters Barry Edgley & Ira Roley Barry with 250.16 at 100 Yards and 250.13 at 200 yards Ira with 250.17 at 100yards and 250.9 at 200 yards.
Like i said this is the first year it has been introduced so really off to a good start and they had excellent conditions to do it in.
