Pdogs hammerd a bit

A pal & I hit a ranch today that's pretty much a p-dog haven.
No pups out, but lots of fat adults. Shot an area then moved when they decided to stay down longer each time.
Shots were from 280-617 yards, with 280-360 yds on average, breeze was from 0-15 till after 2pm when it slowed down so we didn't have to hold shots into the wind.
I ran my Savage 223 build, suppressed, 24" ER shaw 1/14 tw bbl and him a TC 204 and 2 Savage builds in .223, (See I just need 1 gun)...hahaa
My max distance was 489 yards with a 50g vmax, his was 617 yards with the 204 & 46g custom bullet. We handload our own.
Both those pdogs just had a hole in them and flopped over. That far out neither bullet popped them to parts.
Started at 7am, last shot was 623pm. Pretty soon the fields will be packed full of pups for more excitement.
The .204 will do the long shot thing....just hold for breezes.
Many shots at 500-600yds were from 3-5 moa into the breezes.
He uses Athlon scopes, I use a Nikon Back x1000, 4-16x50 really like the MOA reticle on it.
All my shooting was pretty much 12x

Well, your ability to hit at those distances is way above my pay grade. I shoot ground squirrels which are smaller, but most of my shots are within 300 yards. If I can hit them at over 250, I get arthritis of the elbow from patting myself on the back.

Good on you, bro!

Always like to read the adventures of other like-minded fellows, yours included.

But, where's the pics of the adventure? Remember the internet phrase: "No pics, didn't happen"....... We all like to see pics!

Thanks for sharing what seems like was a very good outing.

No Prarie Dogs hee in Pa. Woodchucks around here are fun but in no where near the numbers of the pdogs.
I really like to read your guys stories but they also make me a little bit envious and jelly at the same time.
Good read 5spd !!!!!!
Maybe I'll get out west someday.
