Pay attention while driving

I posted this in another post but I got to thinking I would hate to miss someone....

Guys, please be careful driving, cataracts or not.... I witnessed a wreck where a F450 t-boned a 4-runner last week. The Ford hit the Toyota on the passenger side running about 70 mph and young gentleman in 4-runner was not so lucky. I can’t say why it happened. It appears neither were paying attention and Toyota turned to left in front of Ford with a horrible ending...
Trust me, I use extra caution before blowing thru a green light at the intersection now, you may have the right away but if your dead due to someone’s lack of attention what does it matter....

It is only by the grace of God that any of us survive our daily commute. Most people drive as if everyone else is going to look out for them, oblivious to the fact that everyone else is just as clueless as they are. Between texting and talking while driving, my guess is that 60% of drivers are driving distracted. Lord please help us all.

Just happened in my area. Two teens made a u turn in front of a mom and 7 year old girl. The mom is in a coma and when she wakes up she'll not have her daughter anymore. The daughters body did survive long enough to be able to help 10 other kids was the number if I'm not mistaken.

So sad, this happens in a “ blink of an eye “ ....BOOM... it’s over..
All because someone is in a hurry. What I saw affected me and I have stressed it to both my kids. If I can help save one of my accurate shooter brothers and sisters it’s worth it.
It’s real.

my reply in the other post was 100% serious. there are many people out there driving who cant read the speed limit signs. I drove to long before having cataract surgery. I didnt have any wrecks/accidents but there were close calls. Dont do it.

Look left, then right, then left again.

Thought it was good advice 45yrs ago. Still is. Particularly in those pesky intersections. Particularly at times when people might not be thinking, watching both ways, being patient, following what the traffic signals tell 'em to, ...

IMO, my life's not in such a rush that I can't hesitate a couple of seconds before committing. Nothing else is as important as getting there. Far better than getting there in pieces.

Been driving a big truck for 30 years and used to be peoples driving habits changed every couple of years.
Nowadays seems as though their habits changes daily.
It is unbelievable what people are doing in vehicles nowadays, used to be you had to watch out for girls putting on makeup going to work.
Now there putting on makeup, talking or texting and drinking their Starbucks.
The guys all seem to have just got out of nascar school.
With the advent of lighter faster cars and trucks everyone is a race car driver.
Born and still living within 50 miles of NOVA
I/we would rather drive anyplace but around here including LA California.
Yes my wife is my Codriver, we’ve been driving together for 20 years now.
My personal vehicle is a Yukon XL and I feel under gunned when I’m driving it.
One more year then I’m heading to the country, where tractors create traffic jams.

I've been on "two wheels"(motorcycle) since the early 70's. Stupid fast sport bikes,yadayada.....

We,as "bikers" have always had to deal with this effed up notion that drivers don't see us. And really don't want to go into it other than to say....Bullsheet!

With today's "distracted" driving,I've had more near misses in my WHITE F150 !!!!!

Be careful out there.

Got to say people's driving has gotten much worse. Courtesy is rapidly becoming something from another era. Won't regale you with all the near misses and stupid driving I have seen in the past year, but they are many. Bought a new truck this past December and it has already been in 2 accidents. I call it the target. Drove almost 50 years with out an accident and had 2 in three months. None were my fault and no one was injured, dealing other people's insurance companies is a true pain in the ass. My home town over the past 20 years has changed greatly with tourists and new people searching for work or better Welfare. The crime rate is skyrocketing. Must be getting to be an old man, but I don't mind the neighbor kids playing on my lawn.

I drove Interstate 95 in DE for 21 years when it was three lanes in both directions. Now it's five lanes and what used to be rush hour is now all day. We used to say the time between noon Friday and noon Monday were "amateur" hours. You really had to have your head on a swivel during those times.

These younger idiots listen to their GPS's and just get over when instructed and don't even look and see if a vehicle is approaching at a higher rate of speed. They ride in the left lane with no regard to faster drivers.
I drive an older white Silverado.. Old POS work truck. Yep I'm cheap...( cant spend it on ammo) People must pass me even though I'm going 10 mph over. AND people pull out in front of me all the time.. I don't even let up and make sure they know they screwed up..

I've noticed a change in my town over the last 5 years. Mostly due to out of state people escaping the larger cities bringing their idiotic driving style with them. I've also noticed a lack of traffic law enforcement by the LEO's.
It really fires me up every time we're asked for a tax increase to fund public safety when one traffic enforcement officer could write enough tickets in one day to fund all their needs for at least a decade.

If you drive a lot then you know! People are so pre-occupied with other things it's a wonder were not all in accidents. I can't even count anymore how many green lights I got stuck at because the first person in line is texting and not paying attention and by the time they realize I can't make it.

That's when you pull up beside them, get'em loose in the corner, and then put them into the wall!! Just kidding of course, but it would be fun!!

Don't know how many times this year I will have someone in a hurry to pull out in front of me, then poke down the road. Last time I was a few weeks ago. Doing 45 (speed limit) and about 100 ft. from the interesection and a little Subaru pulls out in front of me. Needless to say I hit the brake and come real close to hitting them. Then they keep on hitting their brakes because I was so close. They did 27mph all the way to town (no opportunity to pass) and when they hit the 4 lane with a 35mph speed limit, they sped up to way over 35mph. This happens with regularity, people going slow and when you have a chance to pass them, they speed up, and if you do happen to pass them, then they speed up to pass you, then slow back down to below the speed limit.

In our case, we have had over a million new drivers come across the border recently. Most of them have never driven a vehicle. In a few months they will all be driving cars without a drivers license, insurance or training.. They print out fake paper temporary tags and don't register their cars.
The police have long ago stopped giving them tickets because their bosses say it would be racist and besides, they give a lot of fake names since they never have an ID.

I get monthly sheriff reports(no city patrol in my town). Starting last spring(2020) way fewer traffic stops, and I see MORE stop sign violations, in town speeding and phone in hand(not legal here). For what the town is charged monthly for deputy coverage, I don't want to see traffic safety issues.
