Partial sizing the neck

I ran a search and found this topic discussed about 4 years ago. What is the latest thinking? Is there an advantage to partial sizing the neck of a fire formed case so that it more accurately aligns in the barrel?

Different components and rifles respond differently requiring individual assessment using a time tested measuring tool....comparing results on targets.

Hey Boyd,
I know you can probability advise on this followup. I am partial neck sizing on several rifles and having very good luck. If I continue to do so, is there any chance of abnormalities forming at the shoulder to neck junction down the road? I have not been doing this long enough to know. Thanks.

You almost got it right. Think ... in the chamber ... not in the barrel.

Tony Boyer leaves approximately 30% of the neck/shoulder junction unsized to improve the alignment of the case in the chamber.

See: Partial Neck Sizing, at the bottom of page 116, of his new book, The Book of Rifle Accuracy.
