Panda stock repair

I recently purchased a Panda in 6PPC from another member here and when I took off the butt plate the stock has been hollowed out I am assuming to make the 10.5 weight limit. Is there an easy way to fix this or should I start looking for a replacement ? The fiberglass inside the stock is "flaking" and I'm a bit concerned about the integrity of the stock. All my other guns have laminated wood stocks on them so this is my first fiberglass stock.

I would mix fiberglass resin and coat the area that has the flaking and at the same time wet fiberglass cloth with resin and cover the flaking areas, if you feel you need more support fill the open area with more wet fiberglass cloth.

A couple things you can do to check integrity of the lamination, give a slight squeeze with your hand and listen for any cracking or other noise, and/or take something metal (washer, quarter, screw driver, NOT a hammer) and tap around the outside to listen for any delaminated areas. The difference in tone will be apparent. This is for thin skin delamination.

It came that way new so dont think you got screwed. Its to place a weight system in there. Just put the buttplate back on and forget about it. Its not an issue
So who makes a weight system to fit in this space ? The recoil is quite "snappy"! I am going to have it rebarreled and I can add some front weight with a different profile barrel.

amazon sells some little cloth bags (various sizes) that have a pull string to close the top. you can poke one in the hole and fill with lead shot (or steel shot these days) tie the top tight and put the butt plate back on. if you hear the bag move - fill with more shot or place some foam in the void to keep the bag tight in place.

I've made several weight systems that bolt to the butt plate. The butt area was hollowed out and foam rubber used to support the weight.....works well. You do need a butt plate of adequate thickness and it needs to be solidly attatched to the stock. Some small aluminum pillars epoxied in with 10-24 flat head Allen screws do a good job.
