Painting a barreled action

Hey all,

Just looking for some tips and ideas regarding painting a barreled action.

I just got a camoflagued composite stock that looks great, but I think my barreled action is ruining the look.

I want to paint my action either a matte black, or a coyote tan to match the camo scheme. What type of paint should use, and do you have any tips for how I should prevent paint from getting into the chamber.

Also, the stock has been bedded, so do I need to keep paint off the parts of the action that go into the bedding?

Thanks for the help.

Go to Dura Coat web site. They have a video that you can watch showing the process. Tape off anything that you don't want paint on. The chamber gets plugged with cotton balls etc.
It's not difficult to do if you have any spray gun experience. They have a spray kit that you can buy, but a small compessor & a mini LPHV spray gun work best. Average long gun will only use 2 oz of material or less.
It holds up well & lots of colors available. There are some spray can finishes but I never had the success as with Dura Coat.

The cheapest way is plain ole Walmart paint in a can, it will last a long time and when you get sick of it, do it in another color, or pattern... DO NOT get it on the parts that contact the bedding.... Plug the loading port with paper towels...

I’m getting my stainless HV Krieger black oxide coated! Took an old stainless barrel in just this Friday, that I had half beaded blasted. And left the other half to see which finish I prefer.

First, excuse my english.

I an thinking about duracoating one SS barrel with black color, but I dont have a oven available. Is viable compensate for this adding more hardener to the mix and let at room temperature for long time( says two or three days)

Thanks

Duracoat will harden without baking. Give it a week before subjecting it to any shooting, but another 2 or 3 weeks before any hard duty. Cure hardnes is the same.

When I picked it up it looked identical to black manganese phosphate steel. I compared it to the finish on my sako phosphate trg & I couldn’t tell the difference...... very happy.
