I decided to try my luck at painting my 223AI. Just wanted to see what you guys thought of it. Don't be to rough sorry pictures aren't the greatest. The one picture is the before the rest is after my paint job on the barreled action.

Thanks Hillbilly

Looks decent to me HBS. Wudja use? Thought about it myself but figured I'd butch it up. I'm gonna take a shot at painting the old black stock though. Any recommendations ??

My recommendation would be to use alochol and wipe it down many many times to make sure all oil and everything is gone I even went as far as wearing rubber gloves so the oils on my hand didn't affect the paint. I put down to real good coats of primer to start then prolbably two or three coats of paint. I tried to put atleast four coats of a matte clear coat on it to keep the paint from chipping or scratching easy then I steel wooled it with 0000 to take any shine down then back to wiping it down with alochol and cleaned very well before putting back together. Biggest thing was taping off action very very well.

What brand of paint did you use and who's bolt handle do you have? The gun looks sharp and better than my shakey hands could do.Nice job, isnt it fun to look at what we can do ourselves without paying someone and the pride of a job well done!!!!!!!!!

Jon- I just used regular krylon ultra flat paint with matching clear matte and the bolt knob is an AZ Precision.

40X- I've benn trying to make it out to a Mcdonald shoot just hasn't worked out when's the next one?

Hillbilly, next McDonalds shoot is May 28th. Fun shoot and great people, it is shot at 2,3,4, and 500 meters.

Looks good and like John said, you did'nt have to pay someone to do it. Have you or anyone ever used rustoleum. That stuff works real good on patio furniture and is really durable.

That looks great. Ive been planing on doing the same thing to one of my black stocks. I am glad to see something turn out so good with the Krylon, i was worried i was going to break the bank on 30 different shades of Duracote. :o haha what a face.
