Pac Nor barrel

I just installed a Pac Nor 1-12" Super Match .308,.337 n.d.) on my Savage single shot rig and shot it yesterday for the first time. The barrel shoots very well, cleans easily and I can tell that I am going to be a happy shooter. This is my third barrel from Pac Nor and they all shoot well. I think my next barrel will be a Shilen, just to try a different barrel maker and compare.

Update on Pac Nor barrel.

I have eighty rounds through my new Pac Nor barrel and am very happy with the performance. This is one of their three groove barrels and it cleans very quickly. I decided to not break this barrel in the conventional way. I fired twenty rounds, cleaned, and then fired another twenty rounds. After the second twenty rounds, I cleaned the bore and examined the throat and bore with a borescope and everything looked good. I compared the results to another Pac Nor barrel that I broke in using the conventional one shot, clean method and cannot see a difference. Both barrels shoot well, clean easily and the bore finish is very precise and consistent. I don't believe I'll ever break in a barrel the conventional way again.

Chino 69,

I too purchased a Pac-Nor bbl for my LR bolt gun. It is a 6mm, 4 groove, 7.5 twist bbl and it is everything you said.

It shoots exceptionally well and cleans up readily.

It was the first bbl that I fitted and chambered for my 40X LR rifle and it was a first rate experience.

Shilen makes a good barrel for sure and are very popular for smiths. They are relatively soft compared apples to apples to other top and similarly priced bbls. Good BR friend said he would wear out a Shilen almost 2x as fast either on the BR circuit or in the dog fields, but smiths love'm as they are much easier to chamber. Just a FWIW.........check what the top competitors are shooting in score or pure BR, point blank out to 1K. Just a FWIW.

I to have a Pac-Nor in .338 1/10" and it's a three grove 30" lonr for my .338 RUM and it shoots great and cleans up easy.I think you can't go wrong with one. My 2 cents Tim

Own many Pac-Nor barrels ranging from a 14-221 Walker to a 550 Magnum with lots in-between.

Pac-Nor does a good job.

Penny, Chris, and the rest of the Pac-Nor team are very easy to work with.

I have a .270 Win and a 19 Badger barrels.
They are ok.
I have a couple Shilen Chrome moly .452 barrels that are of much lower quality.

I have Shilen stainless steel barrels that shoot more accurately than I can aim, and the threads and chambers cut like butter.

What does it all mean?
Shilen Chrome moly bad, Shilen stainless good.

I haven't used all that many barrel companies. I would like to try them all at one time or another. In the past most of my experience has been with Shilen and Douglas.
I heard good things about Pac-Nor so I gave them a try. I have 4 now, I was so impressed with the first, I found it difficult to go elsewhere.

I've had probably 12 Pac- nor barrels and Have never had one that did not shoot well or clean very easily. They will keep getting my barrel purchases.
