p- dogs in sd

looking for a good area in south dakota to shoot prarie dogs.
any help would be greatly appeciated. thank you

It all depends on want you want to pay and if you're willing to pay. The Rosebud Indian reservation offers guided hunts, I understand they're quite good. There is public hunting in the Fort Pierre National Grasslands, but I believe that gets hunted pretty heavily. There are many ranchers out there that would probably let you hunt some dogs, they are a pain in the cattle business. Also check with the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation for hunting possibilities. There are dogs all over Western SD, very few in Eastern SD. If you've never been there the Missouri River makes a very clear border between the two halves of the state. West River is ranch country, some of East River is ranch country, but there is much more cultivated farming East River than West River. I grew up 70 miles east of Pierre and have shot dogs on several different private grounds of friends, but never explored the commercial venues. You also might check out the SD Game, Fish, and Parks website to see if they have info.
