With the plague they get, I would not let my dog touch them.View attachment 1752733I rescued this REZ dog from the forest about a 1 1/2 years ago when she was a puppy and she is turning into a good varmint hunter on my property. I was hoping to find a dog that would contain the p-dogs because of my horses.
Exactly! With the plague they get, I would not let my dog touch them.
She is a wild REZ dog and many outdoor dogs can build up an immunity. When I found her she was covered in ticks and the Vet gave her a shot to protect her. You can get the shot once a year to protect them from ticks and fleas bitting them. But you are right, they do carry the fleas sometimes. We have had a few outbreaks in the past 35 years and it kills the whole colony. With the plague they get, I would not let my dog touch them.
She is not a very big dog and it was a very big p-dog. She is Jack Russell, Pit Bull and Lab I think.Looks like a rabbit

Gotta leave some seed stockThey've been out here most o the winter. I stopped shooting a while back as I was destroying my breeding stock.
Interesting blood line. Gotta wonder how that Jack Russell happened. She is not a very big dog and it was a very big p-dog. She is Jack Russell, Pit Bull and Lab I think.
Dogs and horses run wild on the REZ and some wind up in the forest, where I shoot ,not far from my house. The dogs are every mix you could imagine and some end up in the shelters. There are a lot of people that adopt them in town, Flagstaff. The veterinarians say that they are the healthiest and trouble free dogs they know of. If they can survive on their own, living off the land, and not get eaten, they are pretty tough. She catches mice, rats, lizards, squirrels, birds, gophers, and now p-dogs.Interesting blood line. Gotta wonder how that Jack Russell happened.
