There was a dead cow below me in the cluster of trees last winter, but I only got two coyotes off the carcass. If it had been my property and I wasn't a guest, a couple roaming dogs would have become coyote bait as well since they were regular visitors. (That may have been part of the reason the coyote sightings were infrequent)

Nice place to sit and relax, and contemplate the meaning of life.

Sadly, very little to no snow this year along with unseasonably warm temperatures.. Could be a very smokey summer in Eastern Washington in 2026.

I'm in Eastern Oregon (south) an we've NEVER had such a mild winter. Both warm temps, and almost no precipitation.
Now that doesn't mean we won't have the worst spring in the world, and that sometimes happens. At this point, that would be a blessing.

A four letter word for an item we are fresh out of, but it sure tried a couple of times this year, so far. Yotes have been down in numbers so far. State trapper told me he was running a thermal equipped $4,000 state provided drone this year, so he may have them whittled down with locking snares. They have become a worse pest than they were before in our area and I asked if the trapper could give them a look.
