Overpopulation of deer in Tega Cay SC

Not sure how they plan to harvest those deer. I would think, night time, thermal optic, elevated stand, subsonic, suppressed, frangible bullets, over corn.. Just a guess..
Wonder who is contractor, ($80,000)?

When I spoke with the guys who were doing this in Bethel Park, PA 20 years ago, they were using suppressed 22LR and green lights. All headshots at night from elevated positions.

Now that thermals and better suppressed weapons (300 BO) have come along, I would bet you are right, Mark.

That being said, I could still fit the bill And wouldn’t charge them as much.

I’d guess two things: the liability insurance and processor fees will be steep.
I think we’re at about $130 per deer around here. ( need to check and see what rates are)
I would be interested in seeing how they do it. Too bad they can’t relocate them but probably not cost effective etc.

I live in Dover Tennessee southern end of The Land Between the Lakes
The US Forrest Service now controls this area now and they have a Ferrell hog problem that is making a problem for surrounding areas. What’s their solution hire a exterminator service with a Helicopter to shoot hogs from the air. The problem with this is 90 percent of this 270,000 acres is woods and hills.
A lot of hunters would be glad to go there and help cull the population for free but the powers to be won’t go for this they would rather spend money for a fruitless cause than to do something that makes sense.
Don’t get me wrong they allow hunting deer, turkeys squirrels ext. but won’t let anyone kill Ferrell hogs

I’m not sure but Tega Cay is mostly “city limits” which at least where I live ( in city limits) no hunting is allowed. Plus shooting deer with arrows isn’t DRT so Bambi gonna die in someone else’s yard.

MO is dealing with these critters in the Ozarks. Tried to ban shooting them... had to walk that back when it was pointed out to the conservation department they are invasive, destructive, and not game, thus free for all to kill on their property. Did that helo thing for a bit with no success. Now they try to trap and kill the whole sounder, working with landowners on access and timing. They are making progress, but I seriously doubt anything but a decade of hard winters will eradicate them.

Hard winters ain't gonna do it. They can survive in the UP during the winter no problem.
