Over and under..?

I am in the market to get back into some skeet shooting.. Do any of you guys recommend a over under shotgun that's not $1000+..? To get a decent one that seems to be the price... Just wondering if anyone has had any luck with the cheaper models or if I should just keep saving till I can afford a high dollar one..

I'd recommend holding out for a good used Beretta or Browning. You may have to go a bit over your target, but it will be more durable, serviceable, and hold its value better. By the way, weight is your friend for a smooth swing and reduced recoil.
I've seen non choked tubed browning skeet guns with 28 or 26 inch barrels go for under 1000

Keep saving. When you get to around $1500, contact some of your old shooting buddies that are still active, and keep saving. Get them to keep an eye out for something. I have been away from shotgun shooting since about 2006, but I would think you could find an older Beretta 682 for that price. Those things seemed to be bullet proof.

Agree! hold out for a Beretta 686 or some variant of it.

But the choke tubes will give you the versatility to shoot sporting clays or even game. The Beretta 682 is my favorite but its hard to find one for less than $1500 or so.

The worst thing that happened to me was my cousin let me shoot a fine SxS
It was the difference between a over the counter bone stock Remington vs
a custom action and barrel by a competent smith. I would strongly advise you
to NEVER swing a Nice chopper lump fine 20 SxS with a finely figured chunk of walnut.
But, I'll never get rid of my Beretta's

There is no such thing as a Budget skeet gun.
Sorry ,that's just the way it is.
Save your penny's and look for a used gun.
At the 1000 +point.

I shoot registered trap and go through at least 50,60 flats of shells a year. Any over under under a 1000 bucks won't hold up very long under much shooting. If you can, save until you can get a Beretta or Browning. Thirty inch barrels are the norm now for skeet with some shooting 32inch. Money spent now will pay off later, weather in durability or resale if you decide to give up skeet later. I think 30 inch barrels will serve you better if you want to shoot trap or sporting clays also. Choke tubes are handy if you want to try all the shotgun games. Shoot well and have fun!

About 6 years ago I was looking for a cheap over under for an occasional sporting clays shoot. I looked at everything new, then watched gunbroker to see what used ones were selling for. I started looking at used SKB models. Then I went to a local gun show. I saw a few SKB's on tables. I ran into some guys that I knew were big into trap shooting. I asked them for opinions. They said look for used Beretta's. I told them that the only used ones I see are $1500 or higher. Suddenly a guy came walking down the aisle carrying one. I stuck my arm out to stop him and asked what he had and how much. I got a 686 barely used for $750!

Old used Citori's can be found for around $800. They might show their age a bit but will work fine and last darn near forever. You can get into a decent used Beretta 686 for around $1500 or perhaps a bit more.

Yeah, the Beretta semis are great guns. I've got four 303,s two 390,s and a 391 and an a400. Hard to beat for durability and being a soft shooter.

SKB isn't the same as it was years ago. They were sold off and are now made somewhere else. They were the second oldest gun company in the world behind Beretta.
I have heard it is almost impossible to get parts for them. I own a model 685 and it is a nice gun. I am kind of afraid to shoot it much now fearing I break a firing pin or spring, or a top lever. Which is pretty common on them.
I wish now I had bought a Browning.
