Out of the Box

I just finished up measuring 200 new Lapua 6BR cases. Here's the results:

1.5550-1.5560,,152)
1.5561-1.5590,,47)
1.5591-1.5600,,1)

None were under 1.555 and none were over 1.560. I'm using a dial caliper so the 4th significant digit is a rough guess.

YOUR experiences?? I ask because the OAL is supposedly 1.560 according to LFDW. -Rod-

I full length resize all of my new Lapua 6BR brass, before I load it the first time. There are to many dents in the neck and mouth of the new brass, and after you resize then, they may grow a little in length. But I then trim all to 1.550, before loading for fire forming. I trim all cases, after every fireing, and when they grow enough, I will trim them to 1.555. That's sort of my standard case length.
This is just the way I do it. Other opinions may vary.

Interesting, Mike. Maybe you should speak to your mailman/UPS driver or complain to your vendor. I've yet to have a dented case mouth right out of the box. I was surprised when I saw two wavy horizontal scratches about .25" below the mouth of one single case. It was notable simply because it was unusual. On Remington cases, etc, I'd expect such flaws and saw them often, including dents, but not Lapuas. -Rod-
