Opinions on Lee Load Master

I watched a couple videos on you tube of the Lee Load Master and it appears to work really well. I just plan on loading 45 acp on it and wondering it its worth it for the price? I don't foresee loading obscene amount of ammo....few hundred here and there. If I saw myself loading thousands of rounds on a regular basis, I'd think about the Hornady lock and load.

I just want to hear some pros and cons of the Lee. Any long time users?

I would look at the Pro 1000 if you want a Lee I have a couple and they work ok for the money, they have loaded many thousands of rounds and once you get the hang of them very easy to keep running . I have a Loadmaster also it lives in a box under my reloading bench I sent it back to Lee twice it has way to many plastic parts and is very finicky even when new not worth the money IMO

Saw a test report on progressive loaders, in 45 acp. One of the Lee's was included with 2 or 3 others. The Lee failed so miserably it was removed from the report. I believe the Dillon and another came out on top. When I needed large quantities of 45 acp, and had limited time for loading I had a Dillon 450 and it was a first class machine. A fine company that stands behind their product.

When I shot many pistol cartridges, I had a LEE 1000. It worked fine. You must pay close attention when loading progressive. Once in a while I would do something that caused a malfunction, but on the whole, it was a serviceable machine.

Sounds like the general consensus is telling to stay away, lol. I was then thinking about the Hornady LnL. By the time I purchase the loader, dies, shellplate, powder expander dies, i'm hovering around $500. For another $60, I might as well go with a Dillon 650! I'll wait and see how much I shoot my 45 and maybe get one.

I've owned a Dillon 650 since mid 90's. Excellent press and warranty. I've had no issues with mine and I'm quite glad I bought this press when I did. It will be around after I'm gone, hopefully with one of my sons.
