For all of you that shoot short range score 100/300 yards what would you consider to be the best caliber & bullet for " Hunter Class "? ( needs at least the capacity of a 30-30.)
You long range guys feel free to chime in also.
6.5x47 do it or a 30x47 ???

Thank you both. Kind of the way I was leaning.
Now to find someone with the reamer and to pick a barrel maker with a 1: 17 twist.

30x47 Lapua using 6.5x47 Brass, Note ! A lot of the older 30x47 Reamers are made for WW-300 savage brass and the Reamers are tight on the back end and longer OAL & throated for heavy bullets I had that problem with a batch of cases , you could load them new and they would chamber Good, shoot them and you about had to hammer the bolt open, I was using Lapua 308 brass to make cases, my 1st batch I ran them Thur a small base 308 Die before I ever firied them seems like it was PIA to run them Thur that SB Die and squeez that Lapua brass down, but I never had any issues with that batch of brass, 2nd batch I didn't do that. Finally I had my Smith open the back end of my chamber up and problem solved ! That was before the 6.5x47 brass was around and making cases out of the 308 brass was work !
