Opinion: Nightforce conversion

Do I send my Nightfoce 12-42 NXS back for the high speed conversion at a cost of $320.00 plus shipping, or do I try and sell it and just buy a new one with high speed adjustments, or do I just keep what I have and deal with the multiple revolutions past 500 yards?

Second question is why won't Nightforce offer the zero stop option on the 12-42 since they have it on the 8-32?

I would just deal with the multiple revolutions. I don't understand the no zero stop option on the BR model either unless it is due to the size of the BR vs. the NXS. Maybe the zero stop system won't physically fit in the smaller space or maybe I just don't know what I'm talking about. If I had to guess I would say I just don't know what I'm talking about. I do know this though I've tried to make some shims for me and my buddies to act as zero stops for the BR models; with us using the 20 MOA bases (which puts me about 6 clicks from bottoming out the scope) and with the tight clearance on the scope caps those shims have proven impossible for me to make. They are so skinny and so thin about the time I get close to where I need to be the shim will just tear apart in the lathe and the mill.

I have the zero stop on a 5.5-22. It is a very handy feature. The size of the stop mechanism is way too large at present time to fit in the br series turrets. I spoke with the people at nightforce and the limited travel of elevation on the 12-42 doesnt seem to allow for the zero stop at present. I can only hope that in the future it will become available.

I was refering to the 12-42 NXS for the zero stop, not the BR.

However why not the BR? For that matter why not the nice big exposed turret knobs on the BR too? I'd buy one in a heartbeat!

With the high speed on the 12-42 you have all your elevation in 4.5 turns (10MOA per turn).

Makes things easier for return to zero, specially when you only go into 2 turns most of the time.

I like mine!
