This is what happens with every major ammo shortage. No ammo on shelves so everyone starts reloading. What is different this time before there was an ammo shortage there was impact of COVID, which provided a lot of shooters some much needed down-time and boredom that resulted in them finally moving forward with planned project builds, which usually also means better quality dies being used. Gunsmiths have been covered in work.I am still waiting on a Forster .223 FL BR die so Forster can open the neck. Forster must be having a major issue producing dies because they are out and so are all of their distributors.
There are 1st time reloaders who have been forced to buy ultra premium die sets because that was all there was left. Somewhere there is a guy willing to trade a kidney to get his hands on a 223 shellholder so that he can use is Redding Match Grade Dies to reload bulk .223 ammo for his Radical AR15. Honestly, the absense or shortage of common shellholders is a key indicator of just how deep this shortage or worry of shortage has happened this time compared to the last 15 years.
