Opening morning boys!

woke up, sat around the table drinkimg coffee and eating breakfast snacks with the family. Im sitting in the blind with my wife, still dark, listening to the crickets chirp. roads corned, 6.5 Grendel loaded, all set up, and checking the roads for deer with night vision here and there just to see if anything is out yet. full moon this weekend gives me a feeling its gonna be slow.

one things for certain, down here in south Texas, I could use an ac unit in my blind. boy its warm this weekend!

hoping for some hogs... just to kill something... I aint quite in the mood to clean a deer yet..

saw 5 does, 3 yearlings, a little young 8 pt, and this dude... broke off each side of his rack already, but older deer, neck swole up already.... got little pieces of antler left on each side which says they broke/snapped off and werent knocked clear off... he had to have hit em hard, or had a damn good fight already. Id like to see the deer that whooped his azz.. cuz this dude was stout bodied...

It's hot here too. Tennessee. Today is opening day of Muzzle Loader season. Didn't go,Plantar Faciatist hurting real bad so I'm not going to walk far. Couch to Fridge far. Killing me not going. What are you using in the Grendel? I've got the AR shooting good and the Howa Mini Action nailed down to 4 loads. Our rifle season is in 2 wks and the feet got to get better. Will have the rifles ready in the next few days. Never hunted with a Grendel and am looking forward to it this year. Really like this cartridge... Good luck with your hunting.

Was looking at your pics also. That buck sure does have a sway back and a swollen neck. They are getting close to the rut around here.

He broke them off on purpose. Deer know when gun season and the rut start. He is more likely to last longer this way.

Cold and rainy with East wind here today in the bow stand. Rut is on. Buddy missed a nice buck at 50 yards this morning. Turn the fan on down there and send some warmth this way. BTW, our gun opener is 2 weeks from today. Can't wait to ditch the bow!

This guy came by this morning for a photo op. He passed within 40yards last night following a decent 6 pt. I already have a buck and a doe and need another doe. All I’m seeing are buck, I know tough problem!

123gr Amax and reloader 15, lapua AA brass. my pet load aint shooting like it did, but theyve been loaded for 3 years so I dont expect it to.. been shooting em up slowly so I can get them back ready on standby to load again when I need more.. When all is running good its a bug holing sob.

I need to clean it real good tho too... its been a safe queen for a little while.
