Opening 2023 NY Coyote season

Since my bird dogs passed I've been taking the first week of October off to hunt coyotes instead of grouse.
The week started out slow, but I ended with 5 dogs down, including a double and a sixth possible that was hit but we didn't recover.
My time afield was cut short because of the fog that rolled in for the first three nights, limiting me to only 4 hours of hunting those nights.
The full moon wasn't helpful either and I was glad when the cloud cover rolled in later in the week.
Chopped the 20-250 barrel down to 20"s to make it more maneuverable and bead blasted it in a shadow grey finish.

Ive already been out 3 times in last month and a half. Had some good luck but man it gets hot here fast. Have to call it a day by 10am. I wanna go out this weekend but we are going to be close to 98 for the high. Im tired of the heat.

I bought the barrel and projo's from a member here.
Savage Large shank 26" S/S X caliber chopped to 20's and threaded 5/8-24.
9 twist for the berger 55's.
Was shooting 4,100 with H4350 in it's original 26" length, but I haven't chrono'd it after the chop.
The 55's do the job near and far.

NY state has nuisance laws that'll let you shoot coyote and other pests that are killing livestock or pets anytime of the year, otherwise the season is Oct 1st to the last Sunday in March.
This year it ends March 31st, so NY hunters get to hunt until April.

Took down one of the dogs that flanked us the whole way out to the field we wanted to set up in.
This is the pair of dogs that's been harassing the landowner.
Silly dog thought it was going to get a free meal.

Same spot as the other land owner harassers.
This one traveled a long way.

Your a good man. If more guys did these kind of activities, we'd have better small game hunting nowadays! People don't get it. Keep up the good work.
