One powder for 9 mm, 40 S&W, and 10mm?

Got a Dillon 550B and plan to load the above calibers. Powder is sporadically available at my LGS. Wondering if there is a single powder I could use to load all three calibers. Would prefer one that fills over half the case so double charges are not possible. I am brand new to reloading. Thanks for any powder suggestions you may have. If one size doesn't fit all so to speak, I would appreciate good powder suggestions for any of the calibers individually as well.

Eliminating Bullseye because of your worries about double charging, four that come to mind are Blue Dot, Unique, HS-6 and Power Pistol.

i think power pistol would be a good choice......have not run the numbers ..really depends son what weight and what velocities...

pick those and then see if there is a powder that makes sense.

I've never used PowerPistol in 10mm. But I have run about 100 lbs of it through various 9mm, .38super and .40 cal 1911's over the past 7 years...I like it, a lot. If I had to choose one powder for many pistol calibers, it would be PP. If I had to choose two, it would be PP and CLAYS...which is a great powder for .45acp.

I agree with the other members, Power Pistol would be my choice. I have shot it in all and it works fine. It is definitely is the most consistent powder I have ever shot in the 40 S&W.

As most my shooting is all with middle of the road cast bullet loads, I settled on WW-231 for those cartridges, and also including 45's, 38 Super, and 9x23's in my 550.

I don't like the "one size fit's all" but I would go with Blue Dot from the choices you gave. You did not say whether you are going to be loading lead or jacketed bullets which can make a big difference. Power pistol has been a great powder for the 9mm.

I agree on Power Pistol.
I've loaded thousand of 10mm with Power Pistol through a Dillon, cast and jacketed.

If you want loads that are on the upper end for ll three calibers then Longshot is especially good. Im using it in the 40 and 10 for hunting loads and the 9 for full power loads. I also use it with plated bullets in all three at the lower starting load end. The power is very good and the accuraacy is excellent in all three.

Another vote for Power Pistol. We know it works in 10mm, 9mm and .380 ACP. About to find out first hand with the .40 S&W. Based on previous posts sounds like it works great in that caliber too.

Can't vouch for extreme accuracy. Can vouch it is more accurate than I am with a pistol.

since it works in 10mm why would it not work in 40 smith and wesson, a couple thousand less max pressure, same dia same bullet weights....for the record, when i had my 10mm, i used 40sw cases, loaded long in my 10mm...cheaper than 10mm brass, and lots of practice ammo at 40 sw pressure.....

I've never used Power Pistol but it certainly is popular & worth looking at . I use Hodgdon Universal in all of the above for the same reasons that you have. Meters good, Burns clean, good velocity. It is known as Universal Clays and not to be confused with Clays which is a faster burning powder.

Went to my somewhat LGS today and scored three pounds of Longshot and five pounds of CFE-223. Wasn't much to choose from. They had WST but no other powders I had heard about for pistols. Wanted to say thanks for your help here. Will use all three for 9 mm, 40 S&W, and 10 mm till I can track down a few other powders.
