One more lesson learned

Is there any way to make this POS more concentric ? It seems to have too many moving parts on the shell clamping end.
The adjustment and micrometer work fine on the cutter end. Cases are coming out OK but I hate seeing that much runout.IMG_20250102_210846270.jpgIMG_20250102_210855643.jpg

I use K&M and it’s designed to “float”. It measures fine despite the runout but there’s a way to insert the case into the holder to limit runout, just play with it. Maybe try applying steady thumb pressure into the shell holder while tightening up.

I get about one out of ten that feels concentric as it enters the mandrel.
Thanks for the lessons guys.

Are neck thicknesses consistent? Thats all it is intended to do. Runout is another issue. My K&M cuts perfectly and is consistent even with some wobble. I see the tool is only clamped to the bench on one end, could that contribute to the wobble?

I use the same Hornady tool. Before using I put the capers through a sizing die to be sure they and the necks are as "straight" as is reasonable.

Then turn them on a tight mandrel.

Yes, surprisingly good and consistent. About a .001" taper toward the shoulder.

Shouldn't you do that before the first firing if that's your goal?
Unless you're fireforming brass from a reformed parent case?
I took some Mexican Aguila brass and have been learning about case prep, Nothing fancy just learning the setups and the tool.
