Older Rem 700 - Worth it to replace Shroud, CP, Firing Pin? l have play in trigger

Hello
I kind of used to custom actions (spoiled yes)

I do have 2 Remington 700 setups though. Both have more creep than my customs, with a new 308 being really bad.

What I mean by creep is that it's basically a 2-stage trigger, kind of. Using Jewells on both. There is take-up, then the good old jewell break. I can't adjust this out, makes the trigger unsafe.

I'm wondering if an aftermarket cocking piece would help? PT&G has their whole firing pin assembly for 45 bucks or so. Just wondering if others have made this swap, and did it help? I'm thinking I have a worn, or well used cocking piece?

Thanks

I own 8 jewell triggers, feel I have a decent grasp on the adjustment. You are not reducing sear and cleaning this up, without it starting to slam fire. I'll give it a go with the replacement. Only out 50 bucks if it doesn't work. And I'll get a better looking shroud lol

Just thought somebody else may have had the same thing
