MIDWAY HAS SOME INEXPENSIVE SET"S
Best buy one of those, A used set may be so dull it may discourage you.
The sharper the better on the tool.

i would go for new but funds really tight being laid off

I got a set in a batch of stuff I bought from a deceased shooters wife. Dull tools are not the way to try your hand at checkering. Drove me nuts and I quit. A sharp set of used ones would be OK but probably harder to find.

Check with Midway. You will find that they really are reasonable. try the base set for 14 lines Per inch.
