Old School Variable -- Weaver V8

I think this may have been Weaver's first variable power scope. Correct me if I'm wrong. I've got two of these, and they are kinda weird, but not too bad. External adjustment mounts, power adjustment by cranking the entire eye piece. 2 1/2 X 8 power.

I put the best one of the two on this rifle the other day, and bore sighted it on the neighbors stove pipe. Took it out today and it shot about three inches low, and three inches left. Tuned her in, and proceeded to shoot about a dozen ground squirrels. Nothing spectacular, but a nice day for a kid with a broke foot. jd

I have an old K8 on a .22. When compared to other scopes, it is very clear especially for its age. Field of view is narrow, but a nice scope. BTW, nice Remington. What model is it?

That barrel and stock are a M521T. The rest of the parts came from ebay and gun forum purchases. The Remington 500 series stuff is pretty gettable for guys who want to build or fix them. I've got three of them now, so I guess I like them. jd

I've got a couple of those laying around here they weren't a bad scope. I still use a Balvar 8 pretty nice image for as old as it is, in fact a have spare for a back up, it don't think I can get it repaired. I have mine in windage adjustable Leupold std rings and shim for elevation. It blows most shooters minds when they realize there are no windage or elevation adjustments.

I still have my V Series Weaver 4-16x42 with fine cross hair. Got it years ago when they first came out at a little sports shop in Fort Smith. Still going strong.
