Old Mossberg rimfire question

Digging through my gun safe(s), I started working on some projects with moderate success. So far, cleaned and lubed an 1898Krag, got an HK4 32 acp back into service as well as a Colt Jr 25 acp. Started removing a scope from a Contender barrel (2 stripped screws on the scope mount and looking for OEM rear sight parts (need an elevation screw).

While cleaning a Mossberg 640K Chuckster (22 WRM), the bolt worked a couple of times and then locked up after opening about 1/2". I removed the barrel and can't see anything wrong. Before I willi-nilli start tearing things apart, does anyone have any suggestions?

Sear stuck ?

I'd start by soaking the action in kerosene or blast the crap outta it with Gun Scrubber. At least you will start with a clean part to examine.

As far as why it would stall...????

PS...Send me a PM to remind me to look for a Contender sight screw for you. I must have one.

Tried soaking several days with WD40. No luck. Hot water bath to remove WD-40. Found two videos on taking it down (one on trigger and another on bolt). Stripped the trigger down, scrubbed with a brass brush and alcohol, and reassembled. Think I straightened a couple of small glitches and lubed with Slide glide. Seems "ok" but a little stiff. From my past (dark, dim) memory, both the 640 and 340 Mossbergs have always been a little still.
