OK, seems my no-turn neck chamber in my new 6Br barrel may need just a little turning.

A 107 Sierra will enter case mouth point first with a little resistance but the it needs twisting and more force for the ring on the rear. Supposedly a .272 no turn. Thinking I will do a quick cleanup cut. Having read to use a shallower angle than case to keep from cutting into the shoulder too much, what is the recommended cutting angle for the turner. Have an older Sinclair turner. Also who has replacement blades? Thanks
Frank

Matched cutter.. I would never go back to stopping at shoulder. Sure it takes time to set up. Never had a neck blow off and usually run very hot.

No mic and no pin guages, just a cheapy caliper. Been looking for a place to buy individual pin guages but no luck. No sign of pressure with 29.0 VV140 under Sierra 107s. Seems to want to put 'em exactly were I break the shot. Cataracts and a large floater don't help at all! Using an Atlas single shot so no spring loaded extractor to deform case mouth like my Rem 700s.

I use a matched angle cutter and turn about one revolution into the shoulder and no more.
Q; what does it matter if a bullet does or does not slide into a fired case as long as the case ejects and the target looks good ?

That method is well known and is a good quick check
If the bullet doesn’t slip into a fired case neck it is an indication there isn’t enough neck clearance in the chamber. One issue with the test is new brass has more spring back and can give you a false reading

I cut into the shoulder but not that far down. About half as much.
If the cutter is matched perfectly to your shoulder and you cut .0005 into the shoulder. How can you stop at half a blade width? Turning into the shoulder will yield a full blade width. Everything is determined by case OAL. If your trim length is .0005 short, you will be .0005 deeper into the shoulder. Trim length is critical. Cutter must match shoulder perfectly. Nothing better than the Great Pumpkin.

I have a 21st Century neck turner. It's a 40 deg cutter for use with my 6mmBRA. They told me it is actually not precisely 40 deg, but relieved by 3.5 deg to avoid cutting down the case shoulder.
