Ok 20-222 shooters...

Man I'm pretty excited about my new PacNor 20-222 chambered super match SS 3 groove 1-12" twist barrel that Chris chambered for my Savage BVSS-S!
It arrived on Thursday, took 8 weeks to ship me this chambered barrel...Not bad!) and on inspection, it's excellent and the shipper had'nt turned it into an expensive tomato stake..;).

Chris chamber reamer in 20-222 is .234 @ neck with a pretty short throat. The throat is about .045 long to the leade of the lands...Yep, it's pretty short. All in all, for the 30-49gr bullets I intend on shoot'n, I think it'll be fine.
No problems in reaching these lands!:thumb:.

I'm shoot'n one shot - clean for first 10 shots then I'll start shoot'n groups.
4-rounds sofar down this tube and it's showing WONDERFUL signs! Almost NO copper and what little fouling there is comes out with Proshots and a few patches with ease.
Just like with my .22 Super Match 8 twist 4 groove I bought from Chris last Summer, this .20 is showing Great signs!

When I get a chance to shoot some groups in the next days, I'll post on this thread the results.

PacNor's products and services are second to none!
Thanks Chris,
Cale R

Hadn't seen that chambering on the Pac Nor list....whats the barrel contour/length?? I am a big Pac Nor fan...having seven or so of their barrels....going to build a 20 Vartarg this summer...221 FB down to 20 cal....

20 Vartarg

Use a .230/.231 bushing and it'll be perfect in the .234nk with good neck tension.

Off to the range....:D

Just curious....what advantage did you see with the 20/222 ?? Dies are readily available for the 20VT and 20 Tact....

None, but the .222 case is excellent in my opinion to base a .20 off of.

Yep, but for those who have a .222 Bushing Die, can simply throw in a .230/.231 bushing and neck down the .222 brass and ya got a .20-222....
You'll be fine with ANY of th .20 wildcats....!

When I got to the range and set flags, the conditions were really good 8-10mph WSW 70 deg <50% humidity and fired a three shot group that went into a little clover shape .290 or .300. 22.5 gr H322 and a Hornady 32gr v-max. Got 3692 out of that,it'll go higher!), but a really good start!
Five shot group went with same load .488 but four of them went .265, third shot got out abit due to a pick-up I neglected to wait out or dope for....
As I went up on the powder, the groups were running < .500 consistently and as the condition got worse - 12-20mph and quite switchy in angle. I did achieve 4112 fps with H322 and the groups were high .300's to .400...
Did try some of my N133 in it and got some really nice goups.
.340/.429 /.263. The .263 was pretty awsome cause I doped, held and prayed the condition would blow it into the group...It did.:)). I was typically getting 3750 - 3850fps out of 133.

All in all, I got very excellent results out of this barrel, and it's just a start).
More load development and the PD's are in trouble!

Throughout the shooting as I cleaned, what little copper there was, absolutly came out with Proshots # 4 with ease! Excellent barrel!
Next time out I plan on Ramshot Exterminator, H335 and prob IMR or H4198 as well as some Sierra 39!

Good shoot'n

Sounds like a nice rifle Cale.
I happen to have a .20 Duster,20-222imp)built on a BAT SV
with a Pac-Nor 11 twist and it shoots bugholes.I like the
.222 brass we have available to us.Another feature is that this sized case has the horsepower to anchor the far off dogs without
burning too much powder or barrel steel after a furious 'bout
with charging pd's.I think you will grow to love your new .20
have fun with it.In mine I really like N-135 and the 39 Sierra.
