oil and bedding compound's??????????

just a quick question, I have just had a rifle bedded, its the first one I have ever had done. Usually with my rifles every month I take them from the stock and clean the bottom of the action and barrel and give it a good wiping over with an oily cloth just to keep it from rusting while in the stock for a while. Do you think this is a good idea with bedding compound, I am slightly concerned that it may break down the bedding compound over time with heavy oiling. Any advice much appreciated.

Oil should not affect the bedding compound, BUT I would not take the guns apart unless there is a definite need to do so. eventually you will spoil the bedding behind the recopil lug by needlessly taking it out of the stock over and over.

If your worried about the oil being a problem use a silicon cloth.
Neither one will hurt the bedding though.....
Unless your in a downpour doing it more than once a year in not really necessary...
