Offset scope mounts for disability

That’s a problem I hope we don’t encounter but that big 50mm scope is bound to make it a little wonky to hold level. How did you mount the steel counterweight on the 760? I don’t want it to have a bunch of gadgetry hanging off it but it does need to balance reasonably well.
I did not use a counter weight on the 760 since the scope was a 2-7 Leupold with very little weight. The steel plate was for the offset rings and base and it mounted to a one piece base attached to the action. Using a steel plate allowed for setting the offset distance differently although I found the offset Hart uses of about 2 1/2 inches worked fine.

That’s another good solution. High mounts with a 45 degree offset are fairly easy to find.

I just wasn’t sure if it would allow comfortable shooting. This will be for an 80 year old farmer with shoulder problems and I’m not sure how well he can contort himself to take a shot.

Stock should be done after one more coat of Truoil. Fingers crossed it shoots.
the offset scope mounting tube was made by a dallas company, B Square. the mounting of the tube and any scope attached to it is as solid and secure as the ring design allows since the tube thickness is almost 1/8" extruded aluminum with drilled and tapped holes for a standard weaver base. as you have observed, the tube design allows almost infinite scope mounting positions limited only by base height and imagination. i used this on a silhouette rifle with the scope mounted high and to the right before the "chin" hold was ruled out.
