Off firearm subject: Will Rat Trap kill a squirrel?

Does anyone have any experience with Rat Traps on grey squirrels?

Will it kill a squirrel if hit in the head or neck ? I would think so but a squirrel is a lot tougher than a rat!

A rat trap will kill a squirrel. Throw some peanut butter on the pan. I would suggest drilling a hole and use some 20lb mono fishing line and staple the line to something. Reason being is because animals will take advantage of something dead and will drag it off. I've also used110 body grip traps in a small box with excellent results.

I used peanut butter to bait with a dab of grape jelly, got a family out of the attic in about 3 days, they will not survive a full size RAT trap, as said above, forget the mouse traps.

Maybe I need to give the rat trap a try, the little devils keep packing my engine bay full of acorns ,air filter and every where they can put them >:(

I have a similar problem - the little creeps buried acorns all through the cooling fins of my Lycoming 320 engine.

on a different note. if they are bad about packing acorns or pecans in areas you dont want them, try giving them a place to put them. A friend of mine has a pecan grove and while cleaning it up a couple years ago, he came across a piece of 2 inch pipe appox 12ft. long laying on the ground. he decided to lean it against the tree and pick it up later that day after he was done mowing. needless to say he forgot about the pipe for several weeks and when he returned to start harvesting his pecans he grabbed the pipe and was going to load it into his pickup bed. lo and behold it was stuffed full of pecans. that gave him the idea of designing a piece of 2 inch pvc pipe with a cap on the end and wired it to all his pecan trees. once a week he went by with a bucket and pulled the cap off and emptied the pecans into a bucket. this method increased his pecan harvest quiet a bit. you can use the acorns to bait hog traps or put them into your deer feeders. Free bait on behalf of the squirrels. just a thought.

I am overrun with tree rats. A rat trap was useless. They showed no interest in it at all. Too many neighbors to pick them off with any type of lead. Wife says no to poison. ergh.

Nowhere Man: You only need to go RETRO. Dust off the BB gun. A good multi pumper will take them down. Go for head shots.

A good cat can kill squirrels, gophers, etc., in addition to rats and mice.

A smart good cat can survive the coyotes at night.

I have had problems with acorns in my engine compartment and mice eating my ignition cables and nesting in my seat cushions. In my hangers I have large buckets - the kind 10 gallons of sealer or commercial paint come in. Drive two holes near the top of the wide walls and place a wooden dowel through the hole so that it swivels rotates easily. Stick peanut butter on it.

The bucket should have water mixed with car antifreeze in the bottom.

I also have Havahart Traps that work most of them time, for squirrels. As well as larger ones for Possum and Raccoons.

Solved my squirrel and mouse problem.

Having neighbors on three sides would prevent even a bb gun.

Did you know they eat snakes?

Even the lead stacks on your roof

I realize this is funny to some but not to me. I have three hybrid pecan trees than will produce matured/ripe pecans in the north before the cold weather. This is something fairly new to the North (I'm in Maryland) .
They started producing 2 years ago but beating the squirrels is a major issue. No squirrels on my property, they come from the neighbours who think they are nice!
My pecan harvest was basically "0".
Rifles of any kind/caliber our out, because of the neighbours. So I have decided to eat the squirrels as fast as I can get them!

Nowhere Man, I've seen them do that also! I figure I have about a $1000.00 of damage to my attic, they've ripped it to shreds!!!!!!!!!!!

Does the squirrel drown or get poison from the antifreeze ???
