am considering a Pac Nor 223AI, 8 twist, for my Savage 12LRPV. I'm intending to shoot 80g bullets. On their web order form you can select 3,4, or 5 grooves for an 8 twist. your thoughts.

My P-N 223 AI although is only a 9T....its a 3G..28" long

seems the 5G is most popular...I mainly run 53 V's or 55 NBT's

twist is more important than grooves...Talk to Casey @ P-N...

Or flip a coin...3...4...or 5.....I never have issues with the 3G barrels

Clean easy....no copper....dead dogs....

Dittos on Butch's reply. I've had excellent results out of numerous PN 3-groove bbls, as well as a few of their 4gr ones. Use mostly Bartlein & Kriegers now, in both 4 & 5 groove configurations. As far as my own rifles go, I don't have a reason to have a preference. Where customers are concerned, some guys won't touch a 5-groove, even when I have one in stock in the contour & twist rate they want. Others want only 5R bbls - like I said, I don't have a personal preference.

i have several 3g's you couldn't pry from me. i believe P.O. Ackley liked that number and wrote about it in one of his manuals.
