number of fireing you get

with new Lapua brass in 6mmbr with a moderate load lets say.How many
fireing do you say you get befor annealing them...I have watched several annealing process's and have not seen one yet where the case gets to color
of Lapua brass...

Even with moderate loadings in Lapua brass, I see improvement from annealing no less frequently than every other firing.

Don't worry about the coloring. It is not indicative of the changes in the brass. I only get a dark gold color, but the brass is shooting exceptionally.

been reloading for 40 years, but never got into the annealing thing...so say it aint worth the hassel and others say it is...But I still have a hard time beleiving
some are using the same brass after 50 fireings...Hell,I could say the same thing..lol

I anneal every firing with Ken Light's machine and have for years. My current lot of Lapua 6BR cases is on the 28th firing and shows no signs of giving up anytime soon. My 6BR loads are not moderate. They are full pressure loads.

Cocopuff, Ed Kenzakoski shot his cases over 40 firings and he anneals every time. I only shoot mine about 15 firings because I like new brass. It does really help on accuracy also. Matt

If you are shooting a WSM where the cases cost 2 dollars and up you could soon pay for an annealing machine. some guys do it by hand without a machine. Matt

Or do what I did -

For less than $100 I made a simple, timer driven annealing machine. Despite having the budget to buy one, I keep using mine. It is ugly, simple, and effective. Best of all, it is consistent.

Use a little imagination, and you can make something that works.

So just buy a Bench Source instead! ;)

+1.

+1 also and my 100 + firing cases are going to the National……… jim

Jim, I bought a used complete rifle in 6BR. It has about 800 rounds down it. Last week I bought a Widden die set for it, have bullets and powder already. I just need to buy brass. ( load data in possession) My question to you is this, will 100 cases be enough to finish the barrel off? I do not plan on any 2 day shoots with it.

Don, I don't know about Jim's use since F-Class might be a little harder on barrels. My present 100 cases (down to 98 because of an accident and losing one :o ) have exhausted one 6BR barrel and are at work on another.

It's not the cost of brass but the cost of not having the brass. Of course savings in the long run don't hurt the shooting budget.

I went with a http://www.annealingmachines.com/ and while not fancy, it works very reliably.

Some WSM cases are at 18 firings.

It is a tool. Like many tools, optional, results vary, etc.... I can stretch my RUM cases to 6 or more firings. Necks are fine primer pockets... Well it's RP brass.

Thanks Steve, I'm also going to run H4895 in mine like you do.
