NSSC State Long Range Championships

Match Up NeXt @ KDRange Four Camp Butner...
The last match of 2013 had to be rescheduled due to weather.

Jan. 25 - 26, 2014 - NSSC
NC State Long-Range Championship
Saturday: 2 X 1000 + 4 Man Team
Sunday : 2 X 1000 + 4 Man Team

Who's going?

Lets see, 24 degrees and wind about 10mph from the South. Glad my eye operation kept me home this weekend! Have fun guys!

It was an extremely cold and windy weekend. Once again NSSC ran an outstanding match. I can honestly say that all the scores were earned this weekend. You had to pay extremely close attention to the conditions, otherwise you would pay a very painful penalty. Congrats to all the winners.

Very brutal weekend. If you dont like the cold and wind, you didnt want to shoot this one! I prefer cold over hot weather so I was ok with it, especially with the number of layers of clothing I had on! I had fun, so did my son...who, btw, as a 12 yr old, won the SS/MK class in F/O. Yall are in big trouble in a year or two! ;)

Notwithstanding the fun, I am still looking forward to slightly warmer temps for shooting!

Thanks for posting the match scores.

I think Mudcat is John F. If so, good shooting. Close match for the top two. I was curious as to what rifle you used and same for Kent if you know. I can see it wasn't Palma.

Thanks - Dennis L

You are correct. I used a T2k in 6XC. Kent ran a Quadlock in 6.5x284W. We battled it out and enjoyed it, thats for sure. We shot on the same target, relays 1/2, so we scored each other. Maybe not as exciting for him as he has won the NC LR state championship many times, but for me, its always a hoot to be in the running. He and I are good friends, but we dont give each other an inch on the range, but are the first to congratulate each other when its over. We did shoot the Palma rifles in the team match however. I can tell you this much, if I wanted a shot at beating him, I sure wasnt walking out there with a Palma stick with him running a Mag! I might be a bit off kilter, but I am not crazy! ;)

Thanks for the report. A weekend match is always better when you're in the hunt. I live in GA and thought about attending, but my rifle won't come out of the case if it's that cold. I have shot with Kent in a number of smallbore matches and looking forward to opportunity for same at long range. Maybe Ft Butner later this spring.

Again, good shooting in tough conditions.

Good Shooting!!

Nice shooting John, you and Kent were in a real horse race! Looks like Jr is doing real well also, I hope he stays with it.

Ken, thanks. Yes, Trey is doing well, just wish I could get him to shoot other than at matches. A little practice wouldnt hurt him and he doesnt have much interest in getting schooled on wind while watching others shoot. He just goes up to the line, plops down and shoots. Took me a long time to even figure out what to look at, but he seems to get it already and tends to shoot comparibly better scores on matches with more wind than when its calm. I too, hope he stays with it as I enjoy spending the weekend away from home with him and the rest of the guys. He seems to enjoy it, so hopefully he will continue on. Trying to get him, Rhys and 2 other Jrs on a team for a team match. That will be interesting. They have shot together on a team before but with two adults. Fun watching those two shoot, and not unusual at all for them to out score the old guys, particularly Rhys. Both of them are quiet and unassuming, but their focus on the line is impressive. Glad to see some kids out playing our game...we need more of them.

Nice work, KT. Hope to see you in Delaware this year.

Thanks Tony! I will come up and shoot a match or two this year at Bridgeville. I just don't know when yet.
