Not so old of , and new dog

I have posted pictures of Eva in her many times , but not in a while. I lost her to lymphatic cancer on 4/29 after just a couple of weeks being sick which was roughly 2 months before what should have been her 7th birthday.
To say I still struggle with loosing her every day would be an understatement. She was by far the best dog I have ever had the chance to share my life with and was next to my side through some extremely dark and rough times over the last couple of years.
Decided it was time to get another heartbreak though. This is
Bonnie Parker.
She should be some sort of sable once she fully sheds out in a year or two.

Unfortunately I know how you feel.
There are no words, peaceful nor soothing.
I try to be thankful for the time I was given.
New dog surely helps.
Solves the sorrow? No but keeps portions of your mind occupied in a different manner.

I'm sorry for your loss..we do get attached, especially to the really good ones. Looks like you've got a beautiful new partner. Love those bright, attentive eyes. I bet she's a good one, too.
My wife and I have outlived 3 wonderful GS dogs. At our age another one could well outlive us which is something we wouldn't want to happen. The loss is deep and lasting.

I went through the exact same experience a couple years ago and did the same thing
you did almost immediately.
Like others said the pain and suffering of the loss doesn't ever go away completely but
the hole in the heart gets filled somewhat with the new relationship.
I've had many different breeds of dogs in my life and have had my heart broken by them all but I had one German Shepherd that was Truly Very Special too.
Best Wishes with that beautiful pup.

Dogs are just like people in that they are all themselves. My wife and I are amazed at the differences in personalities - from highly protective to ones that seem to need protection.

I've had and lost several dogs in my lifetime and the ONLY thing that helped ease the pain was ASAP getting another dog or even better a pup.

It was NOT to replace the one I just lost but more to try to fill the hole somewhat that was left in my heart.

Good luck with your new pup, she is beautiful and has very intelligent eyes....I believe you picked a winner.
