Not Elmer Keith but...

Ruger GP100 .44 Special, 250 grain LSWC and enough N-340 to get 850 fps from it’s 3” barrel, Burris Fastfire mounted on a Weigand Mini-tinny due to my aging eyes requiring bifocals. 5 shots 200 yard steel silhouette, 3 hits including the first shot from the offhand standing position! I ran some numbers through JBM’s trajectory table and came up with 7 1/2 feet of holdover. The misses were close enough to make the bad guy scramble for cover! The time of flight could be measured with a sun dial , what we do for entertainment!

Good shooting and sounds like great fun.

Your comments about trajectory and time of flight also brought back memories. I used to spot for a friend when he shot standing at IHMSA silhouette matches with his Ruger 44 mag. On the 200 meter rams (spotting scope on tripod, looking over his shoulder) you would hear the bang, then the bullet would come into sight at about 2 o'clock in the scope's viewing circle and drop a bit over a foot before impact on the steel. It seemed like I had all the time in the world to see what was going on... :)
