Not a rifle but - Accuracy - 45 ACP

Back in the mid 80's, I had Richard Heinie do up a 5.5" 45 ACP
with his porting thru the slide. Standard load with the Barsto
National Match barrel was 5.2 gr of 452AA and a 200 gr H&G 68
semi wad cutter. At 50 yards off the Ransom rest, you could cover
the groups with a Franklin half dollar. He just told me it was close
enough for an IPSC gun.

My Father was a National match shooter in his day, 5 grns of 700X 185 LSWC you can try but I don't thing there's much to be gained, getting the pistol TIGHT is the key.

The single most important area to pay strict attention to is
the locking lugs. For match purposes, they need to be clean
and "DRY". Even oil can slightly give fits to going into battery
all the way because of a hydraulic effect. My match pistols were
hard chromed in the lug area for this purpose. Another tip on a
tight bushing and barrel is to smear in some STP, rack the slide
a few times and wipe off the extra. Even Andy Granatelli made
.45's run fast.

Note..... My carry .45 has dri-slide on all moving mated parts.
