Not a Dasher Dome, BUT...

The first match at the Dasher Pond is taking shape. We are going to name this first match the Bennett Invitational after my friend Kent Bennett (shown below).DSCF0020.jpg Kent Bennett.jpg It will feature three rifles chambered for the Dasher. The owners of each rifle will provide ammo for their rifle and each shooter will shoot all three rifles at 600 yards. The shooters for these charter members are Rusty Durham with the Stiller Mutt, Ricky Reeves with the Walker 40X, and James Mock with the Panda Fury. We will shoot for small groups and both the rifle and shooter will be evaluated. Stay tuned until this Allgore weather settles down and I will report our results here.

Excellent format!
Can't wait to see the match writeup

“Dasher pond” is good
The simple “Pond” would have a strong legacy I think.

Hey, you ever shoot “The Pond”

Pictured below are two of the rifles that will be used in our inaugural Dasher Pond match. The Panda is mine .. it features a Mcmillan Edge stock and NF scope. The second is the Stiller Mutt that I once owned but now owned by Rusty Durham. I don't have a picture of Ricky's 40x. I believe that all three rifles are capable, but I won't vouch for the shooters. I am very rusty and have not shot in a match since January 2023. Pardon the double picture of the Mutt, I hit insert twice.

Going to the Dasher Pond tomorrow to test a couple of loads with Black Fury. I will shoot 32.2 grains of Varget/CCI 400 with Bart's 105 Infinity seated .006 into the lands, and the same load pushing the Berger 108 BT jumped .020.

It was not a great day for testing loads. There was a headwind and it was cold. I only shot a couple of groups with each load. I wanted to find my "come up". With the head wind, my zero will probably have to be redone. I did have one "lucky" 3-shot group that measured 0.782 center to center.

I have decided on a new name for the range on which we shoot. Due to the abundance of snakes, especially copperheads, the new name shall be, "Copperhead Cove".
Birddog's original Dasher Dome has created a lot of interest on this board. I have access to a 600 yard range and between Ricky, Rusty, and myself we have three Dashers. One is a custom -barreled 40X, and there is the yard sale Mutt, and a Kelbly Panda. Ricky Reeves wants to have a get together and see how the three match up to each other. Although we can't match the distances of the Dasher Dome, we will shoot from 200 yards to 600 yards. If there is any interest in our efforts please respond. We have to name our range which is in Franklin Parish, LA and features a stocked pond. Here is a picture of the range overlooking the pond.View attachment 1520400
I chose Isaac (my grandson0 for an unofficial mascot since he is a 'copperhead". Here he is exploring Dan's Bayou and found this beaver hut. PS- He is a Junior in college now.

The weather seems to be getting better, and the Copperhead Cove is getting ready for its maiden voyage. My friend Kent Bennett and I went to the range and shot my Panda/Dasher. We each shot two 3-shot groups at 600 yards. His first was best and the second was won by me. My total size was smaller, but I agreed to take ONE shot at the 10 inch plate. The one that hit closest to center would be the winner. I shot first and got LUCKY. Shown below is the rifle and the two shots on the gong.DSCI0375.JPG
