Nosler brass

I've had good luck/results with Nosler 204R brass, I avoid Hornady brass whenever possible. JMO. I've had good brass life with Fiocihii 204R brass (aka GFL). My use is pd's out west.

Can't say, as I learned long ago to stay away from Hornady 204R brass....over tight primer pockets were a constant problem. When brass was first offered around 2005 or so, it became common knowledge that Hornady was the one to stay away from on all rifle forums.

I've had no issues with Nosler brass and WW in just over 1,200 cases I keep on hand for each of the four 204's I own. None of that brass is Hornady, you can be sure of that.

What is your favorite 204 rifle of the 4 that you own ?

+1 on staying away from Hornady brass.... Only have one experience with it and not in 204 but after 2nd loading I tossed it in the bin.... These were by the way not hot loads etc...

Hard to quantify and purely subjective.

For bench shooting grass rats, probably my M700/Pac-Nor 11 twist, as it'll shoot the 32's or 39/40's with no issues. Second fav would be my Sako 75 Varmint.

For chucks, walking about it's usually my Kimber 84M Varmint, sometimes my Cooper MTV.

But over the past few years, I find myself shooting the FB case more, burning less powder with almost the same performance....inside 350 yards where most rat shooting really occurs. For these outings, I seem to shoot my two 221FB rifles (Cooper Phoenix & CZ 527 American), or most likely, my Cooper M38 in 20 Vartarg, which could be considered my favorite over all the ones listed. A most excellent rat rifle caliber!

Agree. When the 204 ruger first came out all we had was hornaday brass. Very unimpressive, almost tossed the 204 away. Then winchester made brass and shazam it turned into one of the best varmint guns i had. I also use nosler and norma brass no problems. Hornady brass sucked.

I'm weary/leary of WW brass, I bought 2 bags of it in 204R, I waited a while to process it, lost the receipt, and had about a 50% loss ratio from poorly formed shoulders right out of the bag. I was able to find Nosler brass soon thereafter for a decent price, and haven't bought any more WW 204R brass.

Yep, I noticed that when the 204 first arrived, the WW brass was excellent quality. With four 204's rotating in the rat patch, I laid in 1K cases for each rifle and got great results, as it, R-P and (ugh) Hornady were the only options. Just a few years later, the internet forums were all raging and cursing WW 204 brass for the reason you listed, among others. Hornady 204 brass was also problematic with severely tight primer pockets.

Have not purchased any WW 204 brass since laying in the bulk some years ago; no need.

TRUE The w-w brass i first bought was in the little blue bags years ago.. stuff now is no good I still have some of the old ww brass and i also use nosler and norma with good results.

No complaints with Nosler and have bought quite a bit in bulk from Shooters Pro Shop at half what Lapua costs (I don't mind processing brass to my specific needs).

Anyone try the DOGTOWN 204 (brass or ammo) offered by MidwayUSA? Purported to be Nosler brass. In loaded form, also purported to be Nosler bullets.

Bought a couple cases when it was on sale, along with a bunch of the 223 and 243 ammo. Not bad ammo, but the Fiocchi is just a tad more accurate in my Criterion pre fit. Haven't loaded any yet.

Caught it on sale awhile back and bought some 223 and 243 both had Nosler brass. It wasnt much more $$ for the dogtown ammo then it was for just the Nosler brass..

I bought a box of 50 or 100, can't remember but it's just so so. On the thin side, processes fine but nothing special. I've got a couple reloads on some, no problems but I doubt I will order more. Just stick with Nosler or GFL IMO.
